The 143th, last CF session in 2004 is over

December 27. Chairman of the Council of Federation Sergey Mironov held the 143^th CF session. This day, the Federation Council appointed Alexander Karpov to the position of the RF Supreme Court Deputy Chairman, also appointed Vladimir Borovikov to the position of a judge of the RF Supreme Court and Olga Murina – to the position of the Supreme Arbitration Court of Russia.

Next, a number of laws introducing amendments to the RF Tax code were approved.

The senators also approved the law increasing the lump-sum maternity allowance and the law establishing the new bank holidays schedule in Russia.

Summing up the results of the parliamentary session-2004, Sergey Mironov singled out the Upper Chamber’s preparatory work for the implementation of the law on concessionary payments. He also emphasized importance of the law adopted by the CF this year establishing new procedure of the RF subjects’ heads elections.
